Alcantara-Diaz = All-American
KANSAS CITY, MO – Wilberforce University sophomore Christopher Alcantara-Diaz continues to make WU Baseball History.
For the first time since baseball returned to campus four years ago, the program has an All-American as Alcantara-Diaz earned Third Team NAIA honors, the organization announced today (Thursday, June 4, 2026).
"Chris has been a program defining player ever since he stepped on the Wilberforce campus," said Wilberforce University Head Coach Roosevelt Barnes. "From earning conference Rookie of the Year and then the Most Valuable Player a year later, Chris is a player that teams must know where his spot in the lineup is at all times. However, he is just touching on his potential as a player. I am looking forward to continuing watching his growth as a a man and as a player."
He was named HBCUAC Most Valuable Player and Hitter of the Year en route to earning First Team honors as a designated hitter.
One of the league's most dangerous bats, Alcantara-Diaz finished the regular season ranked fifth in batting average (.410), second in home runs (10), and third in RBI (55). The right-handed designated hitter recorded at least one hit in 26 of 35 games, including seven of the final eight contests.
His dominant stretch at the plate also earned him back-to-back HBCUAC Player of the Week honors, along with NAIA National Player of the Week recognition for the week ending April 12.
