Wilberforce Rally Defeats Clark Atlanta Panthers

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Wilberforce collected 17 hits and Clark Atlanta 15 in the high-scoring affair.
The Panthers jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Gabe Williams drew a walk, scoring one run, Andrew Garner doubled, scoring one run, Dylan Diaz singled, scoring one run, Jason Jones doubled, scoring two runs, Sean Stewart doubled, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run. Keith Smith Jr doubled, which helped Wilberforce tie the game at seven in the top of the seventh. The Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the ninth. Marques Smith homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Wilberforce the leg up, 9-7. The Panthers tied the game up in the bottom of the ninth thanks to two home runs. Then tied the game at nine on a solo home run to left field by Demetrius McCants. The Bulldogs flipped the game on its head in the top of the tenth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 14-9 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Julien Patton that drove in two. Jayden Anderson began the game for the Bulldogs. The righty gave up 10 hits and seven runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking five. Terry Cruz started the game for Clark Atlanta. They surrendered eight hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Xavier Thompson threw one and one-third innings of no-run ball for Wilberforce in relief. They surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking none. The Bulldogs piled up 17 hits in the game. Smith Jr and Beau Spears each collected three hits for the team. Phillip Williams and Patton each drove in three runs for Wilberforce, and Jaylen Davis, Darius Woodson, and Joe Mendy each collected multiple hits. Woodson led the Bulldogs with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. The team stole three bases in the game, and turned one double play in the game. The Bulldogs were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Patton had the most chances in the field with 10. Clark Atlanta accumulated 15 hits in the game. Stewart, the Panthers's number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in five at-bats. Diaz and Kentavious Veal each collected multiple hits, while the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Tristan Garbutt, Mario Cuevas, and Williams led the team with two free passes each. Stewart and Veal each stole multiple bases for the Panthers, and the team as a whole stole six bases in the game.
