Seven Honored at Convocation
Seven Wilberforce University student-athletes were celebrated for their excellence in the classroom during Thursday's Honors Convocation Ceremony — a powerful reminder that Bulldog success extends far beyond competition.
Three prestigious honor societies — the Political Science Honor Society, Strada Honor Society, and Sigma Beta Delta — welcomed a new class of standout scholars.
Baseball's Quintez White was among an elite group inducted into the Alpha Mu Upsilon chapter of the Political Science Honor Society, which recognizes academic excellence while fostering leadership, civic engagement, and a deeper understanding of politics and democracy.
Cheerleader Aniyah Williams and baseball's Darius Woodson earned selection into the Strada Honor Society, part of the Strada HBCU Initiative led by the Strada Education Foundation. The initiative is dedicated to developing student leaders, expanding scholarship opportunities, and building meaningful career pathways for HBCU students.
Six Bulldogs were honored with induction into Sigma Beta Delta, the highest national recognition for students in business, management, and administration. Men's basketball standouts Donavin Baker and Jamir Hymes, women's basketball's Asia Cochran, baseball's Daunte Ward, along with Williams and Woodson, all earned the distinction. Membership requires completion of at least half of a student's coursework while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher — a benchmark of true academic excellence.
The ceremony also spotlighted the university's Honors Program, a rigorous academic track designed to challenge high-achieving students through advanced coursework, research, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.
From the field to the classroom, these Bulldogs continue to raise the standard — proving that excellence is not just expected, it's achieved.
